(Head Office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo, Japan; Representative Director and President: Hiromasa Suzuki), promoting the wellness business of hair, beauty, health, and medical care on a global scale, signed business partnership agreements with two companies: Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Company, Limited (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan; Representative Director and President: Shinichiro Funabiki) on Thursday, January 9, and Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Japan; Representative Director and President: Keisuke Niiro) on Monday, February 3. Through these partnerships, Aderans will offer medical wigs and other relevant products at special prices to those covered by their occupational accident compensation insurance products (corporate employees, etc.) when they develop cancer.
Since 2005, Aderans has been developing and offering Rafra®, the company's medical wig brand for people with delicate hair problems caused by illness or treatment, to help improve patients' quality of life. We are also enhancing cooperation with insurance companies to build support systems for cancer patients in appearance care.
Mitsui Sumitomo and Aioi Nissay Dowa have revised the details of their occupational accident compensation insurance products. In the revised products, which will start compensating in or after April 2025, they will offer optional coverage to help pay for cancer treatment, medical wigs, and other relevant items. We have decided to build these partnerships to show our support for their dedication to helping people balance work and treatment through these united efforts.
Under these partnerships, we will offer 5 to 20% discounts* on medical wigs and other relevant products to those covered by the two companies' occupational accident compensation insurance products. We will continue to provide a broad range of support to help ease cancer patients' anxiety associated with treatment, thereby contributing to the further improvement of their quality of life.
* Discount rates vary for different products. They range from 5 to 10% for medical wigs.
■ About Occupational Accident Compensation Insurance
This insurance product compensates a broad range of costs paid by an employer (company, etc.) when an occupational accident occurs to a person engaged in its business (employee, etc. = "insured person"). Along with growing corporate interest in employee health management in recent years, more companies are now engaged in "KENKO Investment for Health (KIH)," the strategic management of the health of employees and others from a managerial perspective. To accommodate this rising trend, the product also offers compensation for illness developed in daily life in addition to work-related illness.

■ Development of Safe and Comfortable Medical Wigs for Patients
The JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards) Drafting Committee was established in 2013 to achieve the JIS standardization for medical wigs. Aderans provided its full support for this effort, with its employee serving as a committee member. The draft was approved in 2015 and became the JIS standard for medical wigs (JIS S9623). A wig can now use the "M.Wig" mark, shown on the right, if it is certified by the Japan Hair Association as a product meeting the JIS requirements. All of the medical wigs offered by Aderans fulfill these JIS requirements.
