Bringing Smiles to Children

Love Charity

Love Charity started in 1978 to provide custom-made wigs to children aged 4 to 15 who suffer from hair loss due to illness, injury, or other reasons. The underlying concept of this program is to prevent the physical trauma of hair loss from becoming an emotional scar. Love Charity uses a portion of sales to bring smiles back to children through the gift of wigs.
The program had been initially limited to the Christmas period. Since September 2012, we have expanded it and made it available throughout the year for the happiness of greater numbers of children. In 2014, we also started providing ready-made wigs to children who need them immediately.

Cooperating with JHD&C

Since March 2015, we have been supporting the activities of Japan Hair Donation & Charity (JHD&C). This non-profit organization provides free wigs, made of 100% donated human hair, to children who need ones due to illness. Our collaboration has been extensive since it started in March 2015. For example, we have helped the production of JHD&C's wigs since April 2016. In September 2018, we started installing special vending machines to support hair donation at our head office and some salons, donating a portion of their sales for wig production. In October 2018, we also registered some Aderans salons as JHD&C supporters.

Supporting JHD&C's Events for Parents and Children

We supported summer events hosted by JHD&C for parents and children by offering wigs and helping participants try them on at the events.

Installing JHD&C Special Vending Machines to Support Hair Donation

JHD&C and Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan Inc. have worked together to develop a system for special vending machines to support hair donation, in which a portion of their sales goes to wig production and other related activities. Aderans installed these machines at its head office in September 2018.

Registering Aderans Salons as JHD&C Supporters

JHD&C's activities are supported by hairdressers across Japan who contribute their time and skills as volunteers. They offer various services including haircuts for donation, head measurement, and wig styling alongside their regular work. In 2018, we started registering some of our salons as JHD&C supporters to serve doners and to cut donated wigs. As of February 28, 2023, Aderans has registered 35 in-hospital and other salons.

Donating Hand Sanitizer Gel and Face Shields to JHD&C

In the COVID-19 pandemic, JHD&C resumed its operations in late May 2020, striving to deliver wigs as soon as possible to children who had long been waiting for them. We donated hand sanitizer gel and face shields to help JHD&C staff members carefully sort out donated hair, strand by strand, by hand.

A Medical Wig Jointly Developed by Aderans, JHD&C, and Shiseido

Aderans, JHD&C, and Shiseido have jointly developed a medical wig with artificial fibers uniquely blended by Aderans to present more natural looking black hair. The product, named "Wig+ (Wig Plus)," was launched in November 2022. This joint project started as the three organizations agreed on the shared goal of helping as many people with hair concerns as possible. JHD&C leads the planning of Wig+, Aderans is in charge of its production, and Shiseido supervises its hair design and introduces hairstyles using the company's original bang method. Aderans and Shiseido have shared their expertise free of charge as part of their initiatives to fulfill their corporate social responsibility (CSR).

The Aderans Group has been supporting activities of The Little Princess Trust (LPT) since 2011. The LPT is one of the UK's best-loved charities, offering free real hair wigs to children and young people (up to 24 years) who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other conditions. It also funds childhood cancer research. The LPT is the only charity in the UK that has been awarded the MBE. Aderans UK helps the LPT by providing wigs, supporting hair donation, jointly hosting events, and offering special services to the organization.
