Offering Entertainment Wigs by Studio AD

In 1983, the Shiki Theatre Company brought the musical "Cats" to the stage in Japan. The development of wigs that could withstand the vigorous dancing in "Cats" was a cooperative effort between staff at Aderans and the hair and makeup artists and costume designers at the theater company at that time.
Our very unique wigs for performing arts, later helping to realize such headlining stage productions in Japan as "The Phantom of the Opera" and "Crazy for You," have also been used in non-theater applications, including a variety of movies and television shows as well as concerts.
As the culture and entertainment department at Aderans, Studio AD strives to promote the wig culture by offering wigs to a variety of cultural and artistic activities.

VALAN®, our ready-made wig brand for women leveraging the know-how in the musical "Cats"

For the net foundations of VALAN® products, we use a material with excellent durability and breathability, leveraging the know-how developed in "Cats" to make wigs withstand vigorous dancing. Also, while conventional ready-made wigs had normally been delivered to customers without cutting or styling, we started a new service to give a final touch in front of customers. This new idea has allowed us to provide customers with greater satisfaction and to add further value. Thanks to its popularity, VALAN® celebrated the 30th anniversary in 2018.

Offering Wigs to the Late Mitsuko Mori in the Theater Play "A Wanderer's Notebook"

Mori performed over 2,000 times in the theater play "A Wanderer's Notebook" (Production: Toho Co., Ltd.), wearing custom-made wigs made by Aderans. These wigs used on stage were displayed at Kintetsu Department Store Uehommachi from November to December 2015. Recalling her popular scene in the play, doing a forward somersault, she kindly gave the following comment: "I was able to do a somersault in over 2,000 performances, even in my 80s, thanks to Aderans wigs that felt just like my own hair."

Supporting an International Cultural Exchange Performance

In May 2015, we supported an international cultural exchange performance hosted by Waseda University. At the event, we explained the entertainment wigs we had developed in theatrical art to members of the Kazakhstan National Almaty Ballet School.
