Our Initiatives in Asia

(Thailand) Donating Wigs to Hospitals in Thailand

At Aderans Thai, one of the Aderans Group's production bases, we started donating wigs to hospitals and other facilities in 2012. Wig prototypes made at the factories had been discarded for operational reasons, but we decided to donate them in 2012 to make them useful. We have provided 2,294 pieces of wigs since the beginning of the program, including 270 pieces in 2017, 270 pieces in 2018, and a total of 130 pieces in 2019 to three hospitals. In 2017, we also started offering wigs made at World Quality. The wig donation, which had initially started in Bangkok, also expanded to hospitals in Buriram, where the company's factory is located.

Acquiring ISO 9001 Certification

Aderans Thai, our main production base, acquired ISO 9001 certification (an international standard for quality management) in 1999 to ensure stable quality of our products.

Effectively using Waste Materials from Wig Manufacturing Process

At Aderans Thai, one of the Aderans Group's production bases, factory employees create a variety of products, ranging from artificial flowers and car wipes to cushions and sandals, with waste materials generated from the wig manufacturing process, aiming to promote their effective use and to reduce waste. We use the artificial flowers for many purposes, such as gifts for retiring employees at the factory.

Tree-Planting at the Thai Factory

The factory sells waste materials generated from the wig manufacturing process to a recycling company, and uses the proceeds to plant trees on the premises.

(Thailand) Acquiring ISO 14001 Certification

The Thai factory, the main production base of the Aderans Group, acquired ISO 14001 certification for environmentally friendly operations in 1999. The facility continually engages in the following activities to promote environmental protection.

  1. 1.

Preventing water pollution through factory wastewater

  2. 2.

Preventing air pollution within the factory

  3. 3.

    Safely disposing of industrial waste

(Thailand) Water Management

The factory procures and uses soft water because hard water, which is high in minerals such as calcium and magnesium, can deteriorate the quality of wigs. Also, to protect the environment, the factory has introduced high performance equipment to purify the water used for dyeing hair.

(Thailand) Donating Unused Calendars to Support an Organization for People with Visual Impairments

Since 2022, Aderans Thai has been supporting an organization for people with visual impairments in the country by collecting and donating unused desk calendars, which will be used to make braille teaching materials.

(Thailand) Installing Welfare Support Vending Machines

At World Quality, we have installed vending machines to support children suffering from poverty and disabilities. We donate part of their sales to a local school for children with visual impairments and to support children who cannot receive education.

(Thailand) Supporting COVID-19 Vaccination

World Quality (WQC), which mainly manufactures wigs, purchased and donated booster doses of COVID-19 vaccine for 140 people to Chulabhorn Hospital in May 2022 as part of its initiatives to support measures against the pandemic. The donated doses have been used to support the vaccination effort.
When Thailand faced serious challenges with the COVID-19 pandemic, media kept sharing stories about many people being unable to get vaccinated. To help address this problem, the CSR Activity Committee of WQC organized fundraising and purchased the booster doses, using the proceeds from the sale of waste materials and the support funds they had raised. Following the donation, WQC received a letter of gratitude from the hospital.

Introduction of a Solar Energy System

The factory has installed solar panels on the rooftop of the building to partially cover its electricity usage. Also, a solar-powered circulator is put in place to keep the water fresh in the pond on the premises (water for firefighting).

Launching a Factory in Laos

(Laos) Promoting Employment of People with Disabilities

Lao Quality (LQC), an Aderans Group member in Laos mainly producing and exporting custom-made wigs, has been working together with Lao Disabled Womens Development Center to provide hair ventilation skills training for women with disabilities, women who have a family member with a disability, as well as women in poverty who are socially and economically disadvantaged.
In Laos, most private companies have yet to work on employment of people with disabilities. It is therefore extremely meaningful, both for our company and for the local community, that a member of the Aderans Group takes the initiative in this area to train them, to build an enabling work environment for them, and to promote their employment.

(Laos) Providing the Company's Factory as a Temporary Medical Facility

As a company with factories in Laos, we discussed how we could contribute to the country in the fight against the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, and decided to close down the Savannakhet factory and donate its building to the country.
Laos, with relatively few medical institutions, faced growing shortages of health care facilities and hospital beds due to the rapid spread of the virus. In response, we offered the Savannakhet factory building to Savannakhet Province in July 2021, to be temporarily used as a makeshift healthcare facility, and donated the building in January 2022. We also continue to provide other types of support, including relief supplies and monetary donations.

Lao Quality employees also participated as volunteers in delivering the supplies to the disaster support reception center.

(Taiwan) Offering Free Haircuts at Facilities for People with Disabilities

At Aderans Taiwan, staff members visit facilities for people with disabilities to offer free haircuts. Since we were called by a volunteer organization in 2012, we offer this service once a week in Kaohsiung City. In 2015, by request from a beauty salon owner in Keelung City, we also started the service there as well. We will continue this activity as it also helps improve employees' skills.

(Taiwan) Donating Wigs for Free Rental

Aderans Taiwan donated wigs, which had been on display at its shops, to a hospital in Kaohsiung City in 2017. While exploring ways to open in-hospital hair salons in Taiwan, we found that there was demand for free wig rental service. To respond to this demand, we decided to donate the items for rental. In 2018, we also donated 10 wigs and 20 hats for hair loss to a hospital in Taichung City.
